Brazilian Pato was enthusiastic at his Official Presentation as a Villarreal CF player
Full of excitement. Pato was officially presented as a new Villarreal CF player this afternoon in front of 2,000 Submarine fans, and the Brazilian star showed enthusiasm ahead of his new challenge dressed as a Yellow.
The talented footballer was full of gratitude for the warm welcome he received from the fans and cannot wait to return all the love shown to him out on the pitch: “I’ve come to a small town, but a big club. I’ve lived in London, Milan… but that’s not important. What really matters to me is the affection and love of the people and I am feeling that here. I want to give the Villarreal fans many special moments. The size of the city doesn’t matter, what matters to me most is the love of the people”.
For Pato, signing for Villarreal is a unique opportunity. “I wanted to come back to Europe to play in the Champions League again. It was a great opportunity that I didn’t want to pass up. Bonera, who I played with at AC Milan, called me up and spoke very well of the club. The second time we spoke he was with Marcelino and I was able to speak with the manager and he convinced me. He told me that he wants hard work and that this team, this club, is a family”.
The Brazilian striker knows that he will have a lot of competition up front, but guarantees that he will work hard to impress the Villarreal manager: “I know that Soldado and Bakambu are great players, but I want to play with them. It’s down to the manager in the end and I’ll accept whatever he decides. I’m really excited to start playing”.
Lastly, Pato sang the praises of his new club and made his intentions clear to make it even greater: “I’ve come to a great club, a great project and I’m very happy to be a part of it”.
