The head coach is happy after the win against Granada CF and hopes to keep up the good momentum
Villarreal CF head coach Marcelino García Toral spoke to the media at a press conference after the emphatic 5-1 win over Granada CF. These were the most important statements made by the coach:
Change in the team
“I think that what has changed compared to the Getafe game is the effectiveness. When you don’t have that precision or accuracy you don’t win games, and in these last few games we’ve managed to take our chances.”
General improvement
“I was always optimistic about this team, because I saw a very good collective attitude. It took us a while to get going because we had injuries, a difficult schedule and we conceded a lot. Now we are seeing that we were able to reduce the number of goals conceded and we have improved in goals scored, being one of the best teams in the championship. Today we had a lot of success, just like in San Sebastian.”
Bertrard Traoré’s performance
“The players play and pick up the day-to-day work, and that’s why he has performed better than expected. He came from playing very little in the Africa Cup of Nations, he doesn’t know the language, but every day he has given us better arguments to play. We are going to try to help him and we are grateful for his predisposition.”
Villarreal CF’s aspirations
“We have to keep improving and we can aspire to keep improving and win the next games. We are looking forward to the match against Olympique de Marseille and the next one against Betis.”
Match against Olympique de Marseille
“We’re looking forward to it, and the team is on a good run. We know that we are facing a difficult team, but we are optimistic as always, just as we will be for the game against Betis.”
