Virginia García has analyse Villarreal Women’s next game against Alhama CF (Saturday, 6pm CEST)
Villarreal Women head coach Virginia García has appeared in front of the media at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to speak about their upcoming match against Alhama CF, at 6pm CEST at the Jose Kubala.
Here is what she had to say:
A team looking to atone for its mistakes
‘The team is working well despite the defeat we suffered last weekend at home. We played a good game, but we made some mistakes that condemned us. We are convinced about what we have to do tomorrow. We’re going to see a Villarreal Women side hurt by the defeat and eager to make up for it at a difficult ground that has been impenetrable up until now.”
Believing in the daily work
“I want them to believe in what we do despite what happens in the match. With Deportivo Alavés’ second goal we were able to react and there was a belief that we could turn the result around. In fact, with Lauris’ chance at the end we were on the verge of levelling the game and that’s what we’re looking for. Despite the defeat, we want to reassure the players that we are doing the right job.”
The opposition: Alhama CF
“They are a team that has not conceded any points or goals so far. They have a project that is destined to go up to the next level. Alhama CF is a tough team with very experienced players in the division, they’re very direct and have very clear ideas. We are going to come up against an opponent who knows what they are playing for. We have prepared well for the game and we know how we can hurt them. We have weapons and players who can create dangerous chances for them. We’re convinced of our game plan and what we need to do tomorrow.”
Counteracting experience with enthusiasm
“We are focused on improving ourselves and getting the best out of our players. Veteran experience can be a factor, but we counter that with enthusiasm, impetus and the talent of our players. We’re going to come up against a more experienced team, but we have a clear idea of our identity and how to take the game to our ground. As the games go by, we’re going to see a more recognisable Villarreal. It’s true that we are young, but we have talent and we are polishing them so that they can grow in this division.”
The importance of the Yellows Academy
‘We look a lot at the academy and we pay a lot of attention to the players coming up through the ranks. There are very talented girls at youth level. We are happy with the performance of all the players who have come through the youth system. We want to give that confidence to the young players, so that they know that we have them in our thoughts and that we will give opportunities to whoever steps up and pushes hard.”
