Unai Emery underlined that the team need to regain confidence against the Swiss side
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media this lunchtime to analyse the upcoming game against Young Boys at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Tuesday, 9pm CET).
The Champions League returns
“We need to know how to distinguish between the different competitions. In the Champions League, we had a convincing win last time out and we looked good against Young Boys. We had an interesting draw against Atalanta and we put in a great performance against Manchester United, but we were unable to get a win. We went to Bern with the aim of getting our first win and we did that.”
Winning is the aim
“If we win our match tomorrow, we’ll be second at least, and we could even be first. That’s the challenge, and that’s the context we have going into the game against Young Boys.”
Turning the run around
“We need to stop making big tactical errors, both collectively and individually. We’re on a run that we want to break tomorrow and get into good form in the Champions League.”
Young Boys, a good opponent
“Young Boys are a good side, with international players and a great manager. In Europe, they are really motivated and have been performing well. In Bern, we came away with a convincing result, but we had to dig in. We’re ready to face a good Young Boys team, who will have a lot of options tactically, quick players getting into the box and a midfielder that will make us defend when they’ve got the ball.”
A tough match for the Swiss side
“For them, the game is also very important. We know each other, we’ve already faced each other. Tomorrow, we’ll have to put in a complete performance to beat them.”
The support from the fans
“Tomorrow, we’re playing a Champions League match and we want to enjoy it with our fans. We would like them to enjoy with us. It’s an important game and we want to get a good result with everyone pushing us on.”
Finding confidence again
“We’re looking to find our confidence again. That’s what marks collective and individual sensations. We have a new challenge against Young Boys. We want to work on it. We want to find consistency from the good match we did in Switzerland.”
