Miguel Álvarez highlighted the need of keeping the team’s identity while keeping CD Alcoyano’s strengths quiet
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared in front of the media this Friday to analyse the upcoming match against CD Alcoyano at the Mini Estadi (Sunday, 12pm CET).
Picking themselves up after the first defeat of the season
“The defeat had to come at some point. It can’t knock us off our path. Real Madrid Castilla are a strong team at home. What saddened us the most was that we weren’t at the level we can be. In the last 20 minutes, we could have got an equaliser, but it wouldn’t have been a fair result. However, the positive aspect we can take from the match was how the team reacted at the end.”
Nicolas Jackson, injured
“The injuries hurt us more than the defeats. Sergio Lozano and Nicolas Jackson were in great form and they’re now out. Now it will be the chance for Collado, Pacheco, Ahn, Nikita, Iker Goujón and Forés to show what they can do. We have options. We have very good players.”
CD Alcoyano, in good form
“They’re a very difficult team to face. This year, they’ve gone on a good run. They have a really good squad, a recognisable starting XI, and they compete well. I’m expecting a really tough tie. They dominate areas of the game where we struggle.”
Contuining the positive performances at the Mini Estadi
“We need to continue on the path we’ve been on at home. We’re playing well, with chances up front. When we don’t have the ball, we need to contain their strengths. They’re a team that dominate from set pieces, direct plays and second balls.”
