Unai Emery highlighted the importance of being confident once more and performing well against Cádiz (Tuesday, 9:30pm CEST)

Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming match against Cádiz (Tuesday, 9:30pm CEST).

Focused on improvement and feeling good once more

“We’re focused on preparing for the game and improving by demanding a lot from ourselves. We’re trying to be confident once more and to perform well. We have to analyse what we’re doing well, but also what’s holding us back.”

A defensively strong opponent who are quick on the counter

“Tomorrow, we’re expecting to face a Cádiz side whose playing style has given them great results. They will try and exploit their togetherness in defence as much as possible, as well as their speed on the counter. They’re experienced and have the capability to generate danger. They know their style, and what they do, they do very well. They’ll be themselves. They’ll be tight in defence, and aggressive.”

Improving in front of goal

“In LaLiga, we’ve lacked a clinical nature up front to round off the good control of the games we’ve been having. Goals are part of everything. They’re not only down to the strikers. We need to be able of creating good situations for the players in attack to be able to score. It’s the job of everyone. For the game against Cádiz, we’ll have Boulaye Dia back. We also have Paco Alcácer. We have players who can score.”

The plan against Cádiz

“We want to control the game, and for there to be a high tempo. We want to get players into the opposition box and be capable of disrupting their defensive system. We want it to be a great game to watch, and for our fans to give us energy to get the victory.”

Injuries to Foyth and Gerard

“Injuries are some of the consequences of playing. Any player can get injured. We have to have alternatives so we can perform well. Trust other players and find the best individual performance based on the team.”
