Javi Calleja hailed the ‘hard work’ and the ‘concentration’ showed by his players at the José Alvalade
Villarreal manager Javi Calleja appeared in front of the media to analyse his side’s deserved victory against SC Portugal (0-1). The head coach applauded the unstoppable labour of his team on Portuguese soil: “It’s a victory that tastes delicious. We have to value the win and enjoy it. We were very competitive, very solid and we maintained concentration throughout the match. We showed a lot of hard work.”
Furthermore, the Yellows boss underlined that Villarreal are growing as each game passes: “It’s clear we’re on an upwards curve and we need to continue that. We feel better after each match. Furthermore, this victory strengthens us and gives us a lot of confidence. It wasn’t an easy task to win in a stadium like this, but with and solidity, we went away with a great result.”
Finally, Calleja focused on the upcoming match, at the Estadio de la Cerámica against Sevilla in LaLiga on Sunday (6:30pm CET). “They’re a tough opponent, but one we have to beat. We’re at home and we have to try and win.”
