Villarreal president Fernando Roig underlined the great moment that the club is experiencing at the moment
Villarreal president Fernando Roig appeared in front of the media due to the annual general meeting of Villarreal CF shareholders, which took place this Monday in the press room at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva).
He looked back at the season and 2021 in general: “It’s been the culmination of a great year. We’re enjoying a great season. We’re in the fight in three competitions. We will play the Round of 16 against Juventus. We’re expecting a great atmosphere. We’ve put special prices in place for season-ticket holders.”
Roig also looked at the Yellows’ good economic situation: “Regarding finances, we are in a good situation. It will be difficult again this year, but we will try and comply with an economic balance. The situation of other clubs doesn’t worry us. We’re focused on ourselves, on improving our facilities and continuing to grow as a club.”
The Villarreal CF president underlined his satisfaction at the club’s journey in the three competitions it is in: “We’re playing in LaLiga, the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. Now we’re facing Alavés and then, Levante. We have to work hard in all three. Our aim is to be in the top flight and then, if it is possible, fight to enter in Europe.”
He recognised his pride at winning the UEFA Europa League: “It’s a complete success. There are only seven Spanish teams who have won a European trophy. We’re among them. Now, we’re also playing in the UEFA Champions League. There are 14 towns and cities represented by teams in this competition, and Vila-real is one of them.”
Finally, the Villarreal CF president underlined that the club will continue investing in infrastructures: “Our aim is to improve them. We will invest so LaLiga is a product with more value, and is more competitive each year. The matches are very interesting. The televisión rights have increased and that’s the aim, make the product more valuable so get more income, build a better league between all of us, with an equitable distribution.”
