Marcelino is counting on the team and the fans to come together to overcome Athletic
The Villarreal CF manager, Marcelino García Toral, showed great optimism in the face of tomorrow´s second leg fixture against Athletic Bilbao, in the last 16 of the Copa del Rey (King´s Cup), the match will be disputed in El Madrigal (8:30pm CET). The Submarine fell by 3-2 in San Mamés and therefore needs to comeback to stay alive in the competition. “We’re going to give our all to make the comeback. As long as Athletic don’t score 2 goals, any win will do. We came away with a good result in San Mamés that we wouldn’t have thought too bad of before the match. Now we have to give the best of ourselves in this second game and play to our strengths to get the win”, Marcelino explained.
According to the Asturian manager, it will be anything but easy to break down the Basque side: “Athletic Bilbao are a completely identifiable team no matter who plays. They’re a team that pressure all over the pitch and play to a high tempo. They play the ball around quickly to exploit and finish from the wings. They always give a high level of effort and concentration. That’s what we’re going to be up against in El Madrigal”.
The deciding fixture will take place tomorrow night so tune in to see Villarreal make the comeback!
