Raúl Albiol has promised hard work and sacrifice to compete against a ‘great opponent’ like Chelsea FC

Villarreal footballer Raúl Albiol appeared in front of the media in a press conference ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea at Windsor Park (Wednesday, 9pm CEST).

The Yellows defender expects a tough, but a good game against the UEFA Champions League winners: “It’s a final between two sides who are champions. It will be a very special match, but also a demanding one. We’re facing a great opponent, who have just won the Champions League.”

For the Yellows No.3, to win the game, it will be key to be competitive and solid against Chelsea: “We will try and play the style of game that suits us. We’re facing a quick team and a very dangerous team if they have spaces. At the back, they defend with a low back and it’s hard to cause them damage. They’re a very strong side physically. A long match is something that interests us. The final against Manchester United marks the route to take a bit.”

Albiol also valued the chance of taking part in such a big game against the European champions: “You have to value it. This club wants to grow, and to do that we need to be ready and excited to play against the best teams in Europe. We want to enjoy such a special game.”

Finally, the Villarreal centre-back underlined that his side will give their all to fight for the title: “We are going to fight to put in a great performance and be able to celebrate the victory with our fans. We want to give them joy and return home with the Super Cup. To do that, we have to have 90 minutes of hard work, enjoyment and suffering.”
