Sara Monforte backed the team to be brave and make the away side feel uncomfortable at the Mini Estadi
Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming game against Real Madrid at the Mini Estadi (Saturday, 4:30pm CET).
The manager underlined that the Yellows have better sensations every day: “We want to get the three points. We’re on an upwards trajectory. We have a lot of new players, and we’re looking better every day. Against Sevilla, we deserved to get something, and against Rayo Vallecano, we deserved a win.”
Focused on the upcoming tie against Real Madrid, Monforte emphasised that Villarreal need to try and make the away side uncomfortable: “They’re a team that like to have the ball. We need to win it back from them, we need to make them suffer and for them not to feel comfortable. They have players with a lot of quality and we can’t let them have time to think. We want to show our personality, be brave, be intense and aggressive. Make them have to act quickly.”
Despite the quality of their squad, Real Madrid aren’t in the best momento of the season: “Facing them is a privilege. We need to try and make it difficult. They’re in a position where they wouldn’t have expected to be, they’re finding things hard. They’ve got injuries and they’ve changed their manager.”
Finally, Monforte has called on the fans to go to the Mini Estadi to cheer on the Submarine: “We’d love them to be with us. It motivates us a lot. Especially in the Mini Estadi, a stadium that breathes football.”
