Unai Emery was frustrated at the defeat and underlined his belief that the team was unlucky with the late refereeing decision
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media after the Yellows’ defeat to Real Betis (1-2). The Basque manager recognised that the Submarine aren’t in the best of form: “It’s the first home defeat all season, but it’s true that it comes after a number of draws that stopped us from having the consistency we want. We need to work hard so the team can start playing well again and find consistency.”
He underlined that despite defeat, the team are still in the European places: “We can’t lose focus. There’s still a lot of the season left. LaLiga demands consistency and our aim is to be in Europa. We have fallen to sixth and we still have being in Europe as our main aim.”
Finally, Emery was frustrated at the bad luck that stopped Dani Raba’s goal from counting in added time: “You score a goal after a foul. In that situation, the referee can blow up or not. It’s the decision of the referee and we’ve had bad luck with that. It was a determining piece of play. The ball goes in straight after the foul. With an advantage, it was the equaliser.”
