Sara Monforte underlined that the Yellows have four very important games coming up

Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming game against Madrid CFF at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Saturday, 12pm CET).

Returning to playing at home after more than a month

“Playing at home again is crucial. We’ve played seven games, but only two at home. We need to play here and we need for the fans to come and cheer us on. We know we need to be strong at home, because it’s tough away from home. We can’t wait to play here again. We need to find ourselves again, we need for things to go well from the start, and be focused for the 90 minutes of the game.”

A key week

“The players know we have four games in a fortnight and that they’re very important. We’ve analysed it and we don’t think there’s a team who analyses everything more than us. The coaching staff and the players analysed the seven games we’ve played, only two of them at home, and against five of the teams in the top six. We’re calm, although we know the importance of the three upcoming games: Madrid CFF, UDG Tenerife and Sevilla FC. The most important thing is where we are at the end of the season.”

Opposition analysis

“Madrid CFF are a team with three of the best strikers in the division. They’re a very physical team at the back, one that doesn’t complicate things a lot, and they have good connections in the middle of the pitch. We know what they’re about and we will try and counter the strength that they’ve got. They’re a team that are scoring a lot of goals, so we need to try and take the game to the tempo we want.”

The team is fighting but needs to score more

“The games we’ve played, and the context in which we’ve played them, have been very difficult. We’re adapting to the new division. Of course we do need to start to put points on the board, but we need to remain calm. Maybe the team lacks a bit of self-confidence to believe that we deserve to be in Primera Iberdrola. We need to be braver, be more aggressive and try and play more in the opposition half, be less scared of what could happen. The players know that this is key and the most important thing is for us all to be together.”

The current situation

“The team is in really good shape physically, but honestly, we need to work on the mental side of things. We’re coming into the game on the back of five defeats in a row, but we’re a team that trusts what we’re doing a lot.”

Pancha Lara’s arrival

“Pancha Lara has adapted quickly to the team. She’s surprised us a lot. She will gives us a lot, because she interprets the game very well, she’s very intelligent, very strong and has a great left foot. She will give us depth and experience.”

Salma Paralluelo’s recovery process

“Salma will be the winter signing. She’s running now, she’s done a bit of ball work, and she’s got stronger in the gym. She can’t wait to play, and the coaching staff and her team-mates can’t wait either. We all want to see her to see what level she’s at in Primera Iberdrola, but she will surprise us all of sure.”
