Unai Emery has underlined the potential of Young Boys, a team who are used to domestic success
Villarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in a press conference alongside Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League, alongside Pau Torres. Here is what the Basque manager had to say:
Margin for error
“We speak about being consistent in the competitions we play in. We have to differentiate between LaLiga, which has 38 games, and the Champions League. We need to be consistent in six games, but we need to be intelligent. Tomorrow, there’s an important game, but we can’t make it into a final. There will be three games more.”
Two consecutive games
“It’s a part of the intelligence. We have to take into account the next game too. The three points are important, but they’re not determining. In the two games, there must be points. If we don’t get any in either of them, we’ll be in a complicated situation.”
The type of match ahead
“We analysed Young Boys regarding their European games and the qualifying stage they had. We have differentiated those Young Boys games from their league games, where they have convincing results. We respect them a lot because we can see they have players who are capable of scoring, very quick players, as well as them being an organized team and having an experienced coach. They compete very well and in this competition, the players double their effort. In tomorrow’s game, there will be a lot of different moments.”
A message to the players
“The messages need to be focused on what we want to create. From each game, we need to accumulate messages, analyse them and apply them. We need to have personality and respect. I would underline those messages among others that we already have internalised.”
