Quique Setién expects a game full of options against Valencia (Wedneday, 7:30pm CEST)

Villarreal CF head coach, Quique Setién, appeared in the press conference ahead of the match against Valencia, which will be played on Wednesday, at 7:30pm, at Mestalla.

The team’s situation

“Today there are still players who were tired from the last game. We have to see how they evolve, but it’s normal at the end of the season with so many games in a row and also taking into account the tension you play under. Recovery always takes longer. Tomorrow, seeing how they are, we’ll decide.”

What sort of game to expect

“We’re expecting a very tense game and it’s complicated because of what’s at stake for both of us. It’s true that it’s always nicer to play to get into Europe than to get relegated, and even more so for a team like Valencia who are not used to fighting for something like this. I think it will be a game of alternatives and effectiveness in front of goal will be key, as almost always.”

Valencia CF

“There will be options. Apart from the fact that they can be more conservative, they are a team with attacking potential with players of a very high level. They’re a team affected by the situation they’re in, but let’s not forget that they have good players who can always get you out of dangerous situations out of nothing. We hope to be able to control the game in a few moments, as they probably will too, and not lose our identity.”

Gerard Moreno

“Gerard is progressing very well and will most likely be in the squad for the game tomorrow.”

Final stretch of the LaLiga season

“The home stretch is there. The finish line is getting closer and closer. We are in a good position now, with a small margin of points over the chasing pack. The aim is to separate ourselves from those at the back and get closer to those at the top. The important thing is also to know that we are in a good moment of play and inspired in front of goal. This is the way forward.”
