Unai Emery underlined the team’s willingness in a game affected by injuries

Villlarreal head coach Unai Emery appeared in front of the media in a remote press conference to analyse the draw against Real Betis (1-1): “We may think that the draw against Betis is positive given the circumstances and what happened in the game. The three injuries conditioned us a lot in terms of making changes and how to stay in control of the game when we were ahead.”

The Basque manager underlined his team’s willingness to react to the setbacks and look for the three points: “Their goal knocked us back for a few minutes, but we were able to regain control and we finished the match looking for the victory. We’re leaving with a strange taste in our mouth. The match had a lot of setbacks. We needed to be very precise to have come away with a win.”

Finally, Emery underlines that the draw helps to keep the same distance from a direct opponent such as Real Betis in the table: “Four draws in a row isn’t good. We’re not getting as many points as I would like to. You have to underline that the team wanted to go for the three points and was closer to winning than Betis, and we keep a six-point lead over them in the table.”
