The Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, said Dzeko’s second goal “really hurt us”
The Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, maintained that depsite the defeat against AS Roma (0-4) in the first leg of the Round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League, the team has to recover ahead of the next match against Real Sociedad at the Anoeta stadium (Sunday, 12pm CET). “It’s a really painful result. Tomorrow we have to pick ourselves up and think positively so that we can win on Sunday. We have to turn the page as soon as possible and focus on LaLiga”, he commented.
However, the Submarine boss stressed that it was the Italian’s second goal that was the turning point in the match: “Going 0-2 down really hurt us and from then on we weren’t ourselves. We were too separated. The score line does not justify what really happened”.
Lastly, Escribá praised his players’ efforts: “The players gave a lot of effort. The second goal was a big blow and we didn’t know how to react”.
