Marcos Senna weighs up Semi-final pairing with the legendary Liverpool FC
At the draw for the Semi-finals of the UEFA Europa League, Villarreal CF representative, Marcos Senna, assessed the pairing with Liverpool FC (Thursday 28th April in El Madrigal and Thursday 5th May at Anfield, both matches at 9:05pm CET). Senna wanted to highlight the great work the team has done all season and believes that Villarreal are capable of beating any one: “We hope to do the same as we’ve done so far. We have to do our job at home and then defend that in the second match over there. We have to have a good day and luck on our side. We are capable of beating Liverpool. We will get through because we deserve it”.
With that said, Senna was also wary because of the difficulty of their opponent: “We’ve been drawn against a tough opponent. They are a big team in Europe, legendary in fact. They are capable of turning a game around in two minutes. Yesterday they came back to win after going behind and facing a very difficult situation. We must not give them that opportunity”.
For the Brazilian born Spaniard this semifinal is a historic opportunity for Villarreal: “We have to be happy. The excitement is very high among the players, management team and fans alike. I think we’re really strong this year which will help us to get to the final”. To finish, highlighting his extensive experience at the highest level, Senna said that “the team who plays better will go through, we hope that is us and we can at last get to a big final”.
