Trigueros talked about the team’s great season and their desire to improve on it
Villarreal centre midfielder, Manu Trigueros, highlighted that after the great season the Submarine have had the Yellows understand the difficulties that such a brilliant year will bring, but even so the squad is thinking about bettering it. “Perhaps it lacked the icing on the cake with defeat in the Europa League, but this year has been very good for Villarreal. A year which we have all really enjoyed with everything this team has achieved. Now, it’s time to rest because next season will be even more demanding, but we can’t wait for it. We already know that progressing in the Champions League will not be easy at all. There are big teams, but this is natural because it is always very difficult to play in this competition. To improve on this year will be tough because we achieved a lot in the league and in Europe, but we always want to reach new heights”.
With regard to his role this season and continuing with Villarreal, he was completely satisfied: “I am always grateful for minutes, but to play in a team like Villarreal you have to perform at the highest level, even more so for next season, in which we’ll be competing in the Champions League. I am really happy at Vilarreal, it’s my club. I am happy here and, unless something very strange happens, I will continue to play here, that’s my wish”.
In addition, the Submarine midfielder talked about today’s training session, in which the team played padel at the Club de Tenis Castellón. “When there’s a bit of free time and the body lets you, it’s always nice to play a different sport from football. As well as bringing the group closer, it lets us clear our heads from football. We are going to enjoy being together as a team now until we go on our holidays, that are coming soon”.
