Virginia García takes charge of Villarreal Women

Villarreal CF and the Cordoba-born coach have reached an agreement for her to lead the Yellows on their new journey in  Primera RFEF

Villarreal CF and Virginia García Montilla ‘Virgy’ have reached an agreement for her to be the head coach of Villarreal Women in their new journey in Primera RFEF (second division). She arrives at the club after two seasons at the helm of Atlético de Madrid B, where she achieved promotion to Primera RFEF and then kept them up in the second tier. Previously, the Andalusian coach was a coach in the youth ranks at Sevilla FC. Alongside Virgy, Beatriz Galán (assistant head coach) has signed with the club.

Virginia García Montilla (Mesas del Guadalora, Córdoba, 15th December 1988) was a professional footballer for twelve years, during which time she played for Sevilla FC, Sporting Club de Huelva, Unión Deportiva Granadilla Tenerife and Real Betis. During her career she made 309 first division appearances, scoring 38 goals, until she hung up her boots in the 2020/21 season. Since then, Virgy has poured all her passion into football by training as a coach.

Beatriz Galán, a luxury assistant

Beatriz Galán Cayado (Olivenza, Badajoz, 18th September 1988), who was Virginia García’s assistant in for the Madrid-based side during the 2023/24 season, also joins the Yellows as assistant head coach. The Badajoz native was a former footballer, playing for Comarca Los Llanos de Olivenza, until an anterior cruciate ligament injury led her to hang up her boots at the age of 26. In order not to give up football, Beatriz moved to the bench, coaching CF San Jorge in the Extremadura Second Division and, later on, she moved to CD Badajoz and then to Atlético de Madrid B.
