Bea Prades, Laura Royo, Sara Martínez and Carmen Carbonell will continue to represent Sara Monforte’s side next season
Villarreal Women have confirmed the contract renewals of Bea Prades (midfielder), Laura Royo (forward), Sara Martínez (forward) and Carmen Carbonell (goalkeeper), with the four continuing to represent the Yellows for the upcoming 2021/22 season.
The Yellows have backed a number of players to give continuity to the main block of players who oversaw promotion to the top flight. At the moment, the Villarreal Women squad ahead of the upcoming campaign looks like this:
- Goalkeepers: Elena de Toro, Carmen Carbonell.
- Defenders: Lara Mata, Olivia Oprea, Yenifer Giménez, Irene Miguélez.
- Midfielders: Sara Medina, Bea Prades, María Cienfuegos.
- Forwards: Sheila Guijarro, Laura Royo, Sara Martínez, Salma Paralluelo.
The project will continue to be led by head coach Sara Monforte, who after overseeing two promotions in the past three seasons, will manage the Yellow Submarine for the next two seasons.
A farewell to legends
In terms of players leaving, the goodbyes to Cristina Díaz and Yolanda Palomino stand out, as they are two emblematic players in the history of Villarreal, representing the Yellows for nine and ten years respectively. Paula Arce, Mariela Coronel and Kareylen Capdevilla will also not stay at Villarreal Women for next season. Neither will María Sanjuán, an important player in the Yellows’ double promotion in three years.
The club would like to thank all of them for their hard work and dedication as Yellos, and wish them the best of luck in their new professional adventures.
