Villarreal Women lost to Real Sociedad (1-4) in a match which ended up going to the Basque side due to their attacking prowess. The Yellows’ goal came late on and was scored by Sheila Guijarro.
Sara Monforte’s side went head-to-head with a dangerous opponent in the first half. In fact, the first real chance went to the Yellows. A set play that only just did not go in. Sheila’s effort was just forced wide by Adriana.
Real Sociedad responded. Gemma’s long-range effort was saved brilliantly by Elena de Toro.
With nearly half an hour on the clock, it was 0-1. Amaiur got on the end of a long pass and beat de Toro lo down (m.29).
The goal that made it 0-2 came just at the start of the second half. Franssi ended up one-on-one with de Toro and finished calmly (m.47). The goal set the Yellows back, and it was 0-3 just two minutes later. Franssi once more scored after reacting first to a rebound in the box (m.49).
It was 0-4 through Allegra. The captain Eizagirre’s low cross was finished by Allegra at the back post (m.71).
Villarreal Women didn’t give up and got one back late on. Sheila made it 1-4, heading in a cross from the left.
