Villarreal CF will participate in the new LALIGA Genuine charity day to collaborate with those affected by the flooding in Valencia. The charity tournament, which will be held on Saturday 8th February at Valencia CF’s Training Ground , will feature teams with intellectual disabilities (known as EDI) from the affected area.

The clubs taking part in the tournament alongside Villarreal’s EDI team will be Valencia CF, Fundación Levante UD, as well as teams from the affected areas: Sporting Alaquàs, Adixi Xirivella, l’Esglai Xàtiva and CO La Salut d’Algemesí. In total, the eight-a-side football tournament has two groups of five teams. Each team will play at least four matches of one half of 15 minutes.

The tournament aims to offer players from the affected areas the opportunity to participate in a sporting and social experience with other teams from the Region of Valencia. The teams will enjoy a closing ceremony, which will include a parade, medal presentation, musical performance, haka and family photo.

Both LALIGA and Villarreal CF aim to continue to raise awareness of the impact that the flooding has had in the region and to raise awareness of the importance of support at this time, with that aim, the day of solidarity can be followed through the hashtag #LALIGAGENUINEconValencia.
