The event raised 407.000 euros that will be used for humanitarian projects
Villarreal CF was present in the second edition of the charity football match ‘Champions for Life’ that took place yesterday evening at the Vicente Calderón stadium in Madrid. Giovani, Vietto and Trigueros represented our club in a match that had 3 periods of 30 minutes, ending with a final score of 3-2 for team West.
Footballers from the First and Second Division played in two teams, East and West. according to where their home clubs are located in Spain. Gio, Vietto y Trigueros were part of team East. The Mexican striker played the second 30 minutes, while the Argentinian and the Spanish took part in the final period.
In this Edition II of the charity that is organizaed by UNICEF Spanish Committee and the Professional Football Foundation (FFP), the event raised over 407.000 euros. For UNICEF, the match had the goal of raising awareness and funds to fight ebola in the African countries that are affected by the disease.
On their side, the Professional Football Foundation will use these funds on the humanitarian projects ‘Nova Esperança’ in Mozambique (Levante UD); a football school in Madagascar (Real Madrid); ‘Nicaragua’ (Osasuna); ‘Harambee’ in various African countries (Atlético de Madrid) and ‘Educar a través del fútbol’, from the Sevilla Professional Football Foundation.
