
The club carried out a series of events in Florida during an unforgettable week
Mission accomplished. Villarreal has left a permanent mark in Miami thanks to a number of events that took place during an unforgettable week, with once-in-a-life-time moments, emotion and anecdotes. The Yellows, in collaboration with LaLiga and through its Villarreal Academy project, has expanded the club’s international brand and promoted its methodology in youth football during the last few days on American soil.
Everything got underway with the Villarreal Elite Camp Miami. The camp, which took place at Amelia Earhart Park, saw the participation of boys and girls aged between six and 16. The talented American youngsters trained under the guidance of former Villarreal captain Marcos Senna and a group of Yellows Academy youngsters who travelled there.
Once the camp had finished, the club took part in the Villarreal Soccer Clinic Tour South Florida. This event involved visits to two academies. Strike Force Miami and Cyclone Soccer Hollywood. At both of them, the Submarine carried out a clinic under the Yellows Academy methodology and before that, they had a meeting with coaching staff from the two centres with the aim of finding ways of improving the planning of their training sessions.
During these days, the club also visited The Wow Center, a centre for individuals with developmental disabilities. On site, the Yellows coaches brought footballer closer to the centre’s members, carrying out a number of sporting activities so they could enjoy a fun day by using sport to unite.
Villarreal Yellow Cup champions
The culmination from the trip to the United States came last weekend with the Villarreal Yellow Cup Miami by LaLiga at Amelia Earhart Park. There were exciting days of a newly-formed tournament where 16 U12 teams took part, including Villarreal CF’s U12s (Alevín A). From across the US, FC Dallas, New York Red Bulls and the Seattle Sounders took part, including a total of 12 teams from the state of Florida. Two Villarreal legends, Marcos Senna and Diego Forlán, were the tournament ambassadors, signing autographs, getting photographs and mingling with those present.
After all the matches were played, the winner was Villarreal, who won the right to play in the next LaLiga Promises Internacional tournament, which will take place in the US. Furthermore, in the Silver competition, the winner was Kaptiva Sports Academy.
