The Yellows are collaboarting with the La Bóvila healthcare centre and contribute to the cause through the Endavant Solidaritat project
Villarreal CF and the La Bóvila healthcare centre in Vila-real, located just two kilometres from the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground, have entered into a collaboration agreement through the Endavant Solidaritat programme with the aim of curbing excess weight and obesity in paediatric patients (a period from birth to the age of 18). In fact, according to recent studies by the World Health Organisation (WHO), Spain has a prevalence of child and adolescent obesity of 14.2%, one of the highest in Europe.
Thus, the participation of the Yellows in this project initiated by La Bóvila is to help these children to have a healthier life, fulfilling all the treatment based on the following basic pillars: diet, physical exercise, hygienic-dietary measures and self-esteem. To this end, the club provides them with nutritionists, psychologists and coaches, with whom the youngsters carry out a couple of weekly training sessions at the Villarreal CF facilities and, in addition, they can wear the club’s colours.
Jorge Canós, paediatrician at the La Bóvila healthcare centre, is very grateful to Villarreal CF for their collaboration and explains the aim of the project: “What we are interested in is that the children feel better, lose weight and not drop out of the programme after six months, which is one of the biggest problems we have. That’s why, as everyone in our health centre is a Villarreal fan, we believe that this collaboration will allow us to ensure the loyalty of the children so that they comply with the entire treatment.” In fact, one of the objectives is to implement it in more centres in Vila-real and, why not, in the province.
“The aim of the activity itself is to create a series of games that stimulate and motivate them to do physical exercise. We try to do fun activities that encourage companionship and a good group atmosphere that leads them to lead a healthier life,” says Ferrán Pesudo, who is one of the Yellows’ coaches in charge of leading these training sessions for overweight and obese patients in a welcoming place such as the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
Endavant Solidaritat
The Endavant Solidaritat project brings together all the solidarity actions that Villarreal CF and its foundation promote or participate in. The Yellows collaborate financially and socially with countless Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), institutions, foundations, associations and special centres, mainly in the province of Castellón and the Region of Valencia, such as the Roig Alfonso Foundation, Trinidad Alfonso Foundation, ASPANION, Cáritas, AECC, Afanias, Asociación Conquistando Escalones, among many others.
