The seven Yellows who have represented their country are now heading back to Vila-real
Álex Baena, Yeremy Pino, Ben Brereton Díaz, Juan Foyth, Aïssa Mandi, Iker Álvarez and Ilias Akhomach now played for their national teams in the two matches scheduled for the international break.
Villarreal’s young Spain internationals, Álex Baena and Yeremy Pino, contributed to the Spanish national team’s 6-0 win over Cyprus, coming off the bench. Baena made his official debut with the national team in the best possible way: scoring a goal as soon as he entered the field of play.
Ben Brereton Díaz also starred in the 0-0 draw between Chile and Colombia. The forward started the game and, although he failed to find the net, he played 76 minutes. Argentina’s Juan Foyth, meanwhile, did not play in his country’s 3-0 win over Bolivia.
Algeria’s Aïssa Mandi tasted victory in the friendly against Senegal (0-1), while Iker Álvarez was unable to prevent Andorra’s 3-0 defeat in the European Championships qualifier against Switzerland.
Finally, Ilias Akhomach led Spain’s U21s to victory over Scotland. The winger played the full 90 minutes.
