The Reserves overpowered Sabadell with goals from Cantalapiedra, Carlos Martínez and an own goal
A more than deserved reward. The Villarreal B team bagged their first win of the season after taking down the Sabadell by 3-1 at the Mini Estadi. The Yellows Reserves scored three courtesy of Aitor Cantalapiedra, Carlos Martínez and an own goal.
The Mini Submarine dominated the match and cerated loads of clear chances to score, although they had to wait right until the end to sentence the game.
Throughout the first half, Paco López’s side hunted down the opposition goal in earnest but they could not open the scoring. On the other hand, the Sabadell converted at the start of the second half. Pol scored to make it 0-1 in the 51st minute, heading in at the far post from a corner.
It was unfair for the Yellows to go down a goal and they had to make a comeback. And that’s what they did. The Reserves equalized shortly after following a great play in which Carlos Martínez got to the by-line and pulled back a cross for Cantalapiedra to fire home with a left footed strike across goal.
The Yellows seige was staggering. The second goal was came out of the blue. Ramiro played a lofted ball inside to Carlos Martínez and the centre back Manu, in his attempt to clear, kicked the ball into his own net over goalkeeper Jokin.
Then, in injury time, Carlos Martínez put the game to bed with a decisive third with a shot that crept in just inside the post.
Ya en el tiempo de descuento, Carlos Martínez firmó el 3-1 definitivo con un tiro ajustado al palo.
