The Yellows’ B team claim a commanding win at one of the toughest grounds in the division
Villarreal B recorded a prestigious victory on their visit to Juventud Torremolinos (0-3), defeating the Málaga outfit at El Pozuelo, one of the most challenging venues in the league, with goals from Lautaro, Víctor Moreno and a late own goal from the hosts.
With the win, David Albelda’s side move closer to the top end of the table in Group II of Primera Federación, in a tightly packed classification in which just seven points separate the promotion places from the direct relegation zone.
The first half could not have started better. With barely 15 minutes played, Lautaro capitalised on a loose ball right on the edge of the box and fired a powerful low strike to put David Albelda’s men ahead.
The Yellows threatened on the break against a Juventud Torremolinos side who struggled to settle into the game. Even so, the home team responded around the half-hour mark, forcing Rubén Gómez into one of the saves of the match as he denied Iván Ribeiro in a one on one after a cut-back pass.
And just as both sides were heading towards the dressing rooms for the interval, the Mini Submarine struck again. A free-kick delivered from the left was headed into his own net by home defender Dani Fernández.
The Andalusians attempted to shake off Villarreal B’s dominance after the restart and managed to do so in spells, but in the 65th minute they were reduced to ten men after a heavy off-the-ball challenge by Camacho on Budesca.
Just a few minutes later, on 74 minutes, Víctor Moreno sealed the game. After intercepting the ball from the goalkeeper’s clearance, he produced a superb lofted finish from distance to score the third for the Yellows.
