The Mini Submarine beat Eder Sarabia’s side thanks to Jackson’s goal and move top of the table
Villarreal B touched the sky in Andorra. The team coached by Miguel Álvarez won 0-1 in the Pyrenees thanks to a solo goal from Jackson against the team that went into the game as Primera RFEF leaders. The Mini Submarine therefore return to top of the table with a game in hand.
The game started with both teams, known for their good football, constantly battling for possession and pressing quickly after losing the ball. Dela had the first clear chance of the game when he headed wide from a corner. Villarreal B tried counter-attacks initiated by Jackson, who created a lot of danger close to the opposition box. It was the Senegalese striker who scored the goal, driving into the box and beating Nico Ratti with a shot that ended up in the back of the net.
The game could have gone into the break with a 2-0 lead. Nikita Iosifov did not connect well with Arana’s through ball on the stroke of half-time as the ball bobbled just before the finish and the goalkeeper was able to get a hand to it and save the powerful strike.
In the second half, two goals were disallowed to Jackson and Arana for clear offsides. Even so, Villarreal B were able to hold on to their lead. Andorra made attacking changes and changed their system. The home side tried, especially with long-range shots, but Iker Álvarez was very solid at all times in this very special match for him at the Estadio Nacional, where he plays his home matches with his national team.
The tension was evident in the game between two teams who wanted to win to go top and Adri Vilanova was sent off in stoppage time for a fierce tackle and subsequent protests. After six agonising minutes of stoppage time, Villarreal B claimed a great victory against a good FC Andorra side.
