Miguel Álvarez’s side will start their second stage of the season away to Gimnàstic de Tarragona this weekend (time and date TBC)
Villarreal B now know their calendar for the second stage of the season, as they try and qualify for the promotion play-offs to Segunda División. The Mini Submarine will start it off against Gimàstic de Tarragona (time and date TBC).
This second stage of the season consists of six games where there the Yellows will face the top three teams from the Catalan sub-group home and away: Gimnàstic de Tarragona, FC Barcelona B and FC Andorra.
The second stage of the season accumulates the results from the first stage of the season, and calculates a coefficient score, dividing the points earned by the amount of games played. From the six sides in the group, the three teams with the best co-efficient will qualify for the promotion play-offs to Segunda División. The best fourth-placed team from the five Segunda División B groups will also qualify.
This season, the promotion play-offs will take place in one place (still TBC). The 16 teams who qualify will face two single-legged knockout games. The four teams that end up victorious will confirm their place in Segunda División.
