Villarreal B lost against Algeciras CF (2-1) in a tight match, which ended up with victory for the home side. The Yellows, with a number of absences, fought until the last minute looking for the equaliser.
The home team went ahead on the scoreboard with less than ten minutes on the clock. From a near-post corner, Mariano surprised the Yellows’ defence to make it 1-0.
Villarreal reacted quickly. Less than five minutes later, Diego Collado levelled the game with an unstoppable powerful right-footed effort. At 1-1, both teams had chances, but it was Algeciras who would get the winner.
With half an hour gone, the referee gave a penalty to Algeciras for a challenge by Martin Pascual in the box. From the spot, Álvaro scored the penalty to give the Andalusian side the lead again.
After a few minutes of shock at the end of the first half, the Yellows woke up in the second half. Miguel Álvarez’s side showed they were a brave side and went for the draw. However, a lack of cutting edge and a number of great saves by the home goalkeeper stopped Villarreal B from getting a positive result from their visit to the Estadio Nuevo Mirador.
