Miguel Álvarez’s side beat Espanyol B thanks to a Simón Moreno goal
Villarreal B picked up a deserved away win at the Dani Jarque training complex (0-1). The Yellows reserves beat Espanyol B by the smallest of margins after an impressive performance by Miguel Álvarez’s side, showing good play and knowing when to defend when necessary, in order to take away the three points thanks to a Simón Moreno goal.
The Yellows started the match fantastically. In the ninth minute, Moreno surprised the Parakeets, putting the Yellows ahead with a fantastic volley, after an excellent pass from Andrei. Soon after, the Mini Submarine could have gone further ahead through a Fran Álvarez effort.
After a great start from the Yellows, Espanyol grew into the game and what started as dominance from the away side ended up being a bit more even. But Villarreal’s defensive solidity did not give any real chances to the home side.
The second half did not start in the best way possible for the Yellows. Only five minutes after the break, the referee gave a penalty to the home side. However, Joan Femenías kept out Campuzano’s effort from the spot.
With the clock ticking down, Espanyol B put on more and more pressure, putting the Mini Submarine’s defensive solidity under pressure, but he Yellows held out and came away with the three points, which see them return to second spot in Segunda División B Group 3.
Next up for Villarreal B is a home match against CD Ebro at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva) next weekend.
