The Yellows Reserves lost to Valencia Mestalla despite putting on a great display
A brilliant match. The Villarreal B team could not pick up any points on their visit to Valencia Mestalla in a thrilling match that the Valencia side triumphed in, but the Yellows put in a great performance. The locals took the lead through Nacho Vidal, but the Mini Submarine kept fighting and went in search of the equalizer in earnest.
In the second half, Valencia Mestalla extended their lead with a goal by Rafa Mir, but the Villarreal B team had not had their final say. Carlitos López came off the bench and pulled one back for the Yellows, getting on the end of a fantastic through ball by Carlos Martínez. With the score 2-1, the match went crazy. Two goals were scored in the space of a few seconds, one for each side. Rafa Mir and Carlitos López again, the Yellows striker flicked the ball on and past the goalkeeper from a set play.
The Villarreal B team had chances to equalize and take something from the game, but it was not to be. A special mention must be given to Pau Francisco Torres’ great effort that hit the woodwork though.
