The B team get a point against a dangerous Hércules side in a tight game
Villarreal B got a worthy point against Hércules in a tight game that was affected, inevitable, by the heavy win at the Rico Pérez Stadium in Alicante. There were clear goalscoring opportunities for each side, but neither of them were able to find the back of the net.
The B team could have gone ahead with a long-range Víctor Narro effort, stopped well by Falcón, and with a free-kick out wide from Juan Agüero, which a defender cleared when it looked like it was going in. The home team also had two great chances. Marc Vidal made a great shop from Jesús Alfaro in a one-on-one, while the second opportunity fell to a former Yellows Academy player Tano Bonnín, who hit the post with a header.
Villarreal B dominated the second half, controlling Hércules’ attacks and showing themselves to be incisive offensively. Despite that, there weren’t many clear goalscoring opportunities in the second half. The closest the Yellos came was for Álex Millán, whose great piece of individual work was stopped by Falcón. The home side hit the woodwork in added time.
Villarreal B’s next game will be against Orihuela at the Mini Estadi (Sunday, 12pm CET). The match will be shown on Villarreal CF Live.
