The Yellows reserves got an impressive win over UE Llagostera with goals from Mújica, Collado and a brace from Espiau
Villarreal B put in one of their best performances of the season and came away with a comfortable victory against UE Llagostera. Miguel Álvarez’s side continued their winning streak, and have now gone five matches in a row without losing. The Yellows’ goals came from Mújica, Collado and Edu Espiau, who got a brace.
Villarreal B kicked off the tie with clear ideas, possession, pressure and intensity. The Yellows attack was led by Espiau. The forward hit the post with his first shot, but minutes later, he didn’t let the away side off. In the 17th minute, a magnificent Migue Leal cross was sent into the back of the net by Espiau, making it 1-0 for the Yellows.
The Yellows No.9 was on fire, and in the 28th minute, he once more fired past the UE Llagostera goalkeeper after a great through pass by Sergio Lozano. It was his second of the game, and put the tie in Villarreal B’s hands. The Mini Submarine’s first half was spectacular, and they went into the break with a definitive lead.
The second half had a frenetic start. Villarreal B continued to dominate and create goalscoring opportunities. In the 58th minute, after a Lozano corner, Rafa Mújica was first t the ball to score his first goal as a Yellow. But joy for the Submarine lasted little time, with Magallán scoring from the penalty spot a minute later.
After the goal from the away side, Álvarez’s men went for the fourth, and had a number of chances to kill off the match. In the 73rd minute, a fantastic counter-attack was finished by Diego Collado, who had just come on as a sub, to make it 4-1. Next up for Villarreal B is an away match against Barcelona B (Sunday, 6pm CET).
