The Yellows are the team who have scored the most goals so far this LaLiga season
Good football and a lot of goals. The Yellow Submarine are putting in a notable start to the season, being one of the most exciting teams so far this season in the opening seven games.
Villarreal are the LaLiga top scorers. With 18 goals to their name, the Yellows average 2.5 goals per game, ahead of FC Barcelona (16 goals), Granada (13) and Real Madrid (12).
As well as topping LaLiga in terms of goals, the Submarine have broken their own records in the top flight of Spanish football. The 18 goals in so far this campaign beat the 14 in the 2010/11 season, when Giuseppe Rossi and Nilmar led the Yellows’ attack.
The impressive Submarine goalscoring numbers underline the current good form of the players. Catalan striker Gerard Moreno is the league’s top scorer with six goals. Santi Cazorla has scored four, putting him fourth in the current ‘Pichichi’ rankings. Karl Toko Ekambi, Moi Gómez and Samuel Chukwueze have found the back of the next twice, while Javi Ontiveros got his first for the Yellows against Real Valladolid at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
After the win against Real Betis, Javi Calleja’s side have scored in 20 consecutive domestic matches (from 2nd March 2019), the only side to do so in Spanish football.
Calleja’s side’s brave and easy-on-the-eye playing style is translating into goals and a great show. Especially at La Cerámica, where 13 of the 18 goals have been scored, and there have been heavy-scoring ties such as those against Real Betis (5-1) or Granada (4-4).
