Villarreal beat Young Boys 1-3 and are the only team to have won their three games
An unstoppable team. Villarreal once more won in the UEFA Youth League, and now have three wins from three games. This time, they beat Swiss side Young Boys (1-3). The Submarine’s goals came from Jorge Pascual, Marlone and Hinojosa.
With six points from two games, Pere Martí’s side went into the game against the Swiss side full of confidence. Their good performances against Atalanta and Manchester United gave them the right to.
The match was hard-fought from the first minute. Despite that, the Yellows managed to find a way to go ahead on the scoreboard. It came from a Marcos cross from the right-hand side, with Pascual bringing it down and firing a powerful left-footed effort into the back of the net (0-1, m.19).
When it looked like it would be the Yellows going into the break with the lead at half-time, Young Boys equalized to make it 1-1. Their captain Amenda headed home from a corner, leaving the second half with everything to play for.
The second half was as hard-fought as the first. There were few goalscoring opportunities, but Villarreal capitalized on one of theirs to make it 1-2. A set play from the wing ended up with Marlone getting on the end of a loose ball in the box (1-2, m.69).
The definitive goal, which made it 1-3, came from Hinojosa. The talented player, who had just come on, came up with a fantastic shot which went into the top corner from the outside of the box (1-3, m.92).
