Unai Emery and Carlos Bacca underlined that Villarreal are motivated ahead of the game against the Azerbaijani side
Villarreal CF head coach Unai Emery underlined this Wednesday in the official pre-match Europa League press conference that the team is completely focused ahead of the game against FK Qarabag at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium in Istanbul (Thursday, 6:55pm CEST): “We’re going into the game in good form and we want to win. We are looking to save our strength and improve our performance. We need to be able to find responses to get a win.”
Regarding the opponent, Emery underlined that FK Qarabag are a tough side to face. “They’re a well-defined team that have stylish players. We will need to be very alert to crosses into the box and in counter-attacks. They’re fighters and will demand a lot from us, because they need to feel recognised. They’re a team that are used to playing in Europe and will perform at a high level, and are motivated, so it will be hard to defeat them. They will go face-to-face with us.”
The Yellows head coach has underlined the path to take to win at the Başakşehir Fatih Terim Stadium: “It will be key to take control of the tie. In the 11 vs 11, we need to find the differences to score. Above all, we need to be a tight block, well positioned in defence and not gift them any chances.”
Carlos Bacca: “We will compete to win”
Yellows striker Carlos Bacca appeared alongside his manager and underlined the importance of winning for the Submarine’s European aspirations: “It’s a key match for us and we need to reflect out daily work in this match. The idea of winning to continue on the right path to sealing qualification is all that’s going through our heads to try and get our aim. We want to do big things in the Europa League.”
