Emery was satisfied with Villarreal’s display against Hapoel Be’er Sheva
Unai Emery spoke to the media after Villarreal’s 2-1 win over Hapoel Be’er Sheva. The Yellows head coach applauded his team’s effort and praised the Submarine’s performance in Israel: “We put in a very serious performance. We found the victory by playing in different ways, with a great offensive-defensive balance and with the participation of many players. I am very satisfied. To be leaders in Europe, we have to play matches like this.”
Despite the win against the Israelis, Emery praised their opponents’ approach: “Europe is always very difficult. The Conference League is difficult. Today we were playing against a team that had a full stadium and the encouragement of their fans. They proved to be a very hard-working team and they put in a great physical display.”
Emery also took the opportunity to praise Álex Baena’s great performance at the Turner Stadium: “He’s a very intelligent and dedicated player. A great example for the younger players. He’s finding his place in the team with great performances.”
