Alberto Moreno believes that the team will stand up to Juventus and that they will know how to suffer at certain moments of the match
Alberto Moreno appeared before the media at the official press conference prior to the Champions League match against Juventus at the Estadio de la Cerámica (Tuesday, 9pm CET). The player from Seville stressed the importance of enjoying this beautiful European tie and insisted that the team is in a good moment to play despite having some absentees. The Andalusian predicts a good atmosphere at La Cerámica for a Champions League night. These are the highlights of what he had to say:
Enjoying the Champions League
“This tie is to be enjoyed. I think it’s a game that every player would like to play. We’re up against a European giant who are always in the running for Serie A and the Champions League. We are going through a good spell and that gives us a lot of confidence going into the game.”
A good run
“The team has been improving in many areas where we were a bit weak. At the start of LaLiga we dropped a lot of points, but we have improved a lot. We’ve known how to dig in when we had to. We have a very large squad and whoever comes on from the bench is involved. The whole squad is very united and that brings results.”
The support of all the fans
“Playing at home is very important. I don’t have to call on the fans because they are always with us, whatever game it is. We have to be focused because they have some good players with individual qualities. We must have more desire than them to give the win to our fans.”
The game plan
“We’re going out there to win. It’s clear that there will be moments in the game when we will suffer, but the team knows how to do it and we will defend together. We like to have possession and control the game. We all have to do our individual part against each man knowing that they are a big team. We have stood up to all the big European teams. We are ready.”
Dealing with absences
“We have shown that, despite having a lot of absentees, we have been able to compete. We are all ready for any game. Whoever is on the pitch is going to give everything and will try to play their best game. They have some important players missing, but they’re still Juventus. We have a lot of confidence, the team is focused and we’re going to enjoy playing in this competition.”
Comfortable in his new role
“I’m going through a good phase. When I arrived, injuries didn’t allow me to be at my best. Unai showed his trust in me, the injuries have helped me in a way, I’m very comfortable playing a bit further forward too. I want to play wherever I can.”
