Six footballers have managed to score three goals in the same match wearing Villarreal colours

Only six Yellows players have taken the match ball home after scoring three goals in one game. Juan Róman Riquelme, Diego Forlán, Ike Uche, Cédric Bakambu, Joseba Llorente and Carlos Bacca are the only players to score a hat-trick wearing Villarreal CF colours in the elite of Spanish football.

The first Villarreal player to score three times was Riquelme, who scored all the goals for the Yellows in a 3-1 win in the 2004/05 season. That same season, Forlán scored the first of his two hat-tricks for the club in a memorable 3-3 draw with FC Barcelona at the Camp Nou. In the 2006/07 season, the Uruguayan striker repeated the feat, getting three away at CA Osasuna at El Sadar (1-4).

Basque striker Llorente is the only man who has been able to score a hat-trick in European competition, getting three goals in the Champions League group stage game against Aalborg (6-3), in the 2008/09 season.

In the 2013/14 season, Nigerian striker Uche scored three goals in a convincing 5-2 win over Rayo Vallecano at El Madrigal. It was also at the same stadium, now known as the Estadio de la Cerámica, where Bakambu got three goals against SD Eibar in the 2017/18 campaign.

Bacca has also shown he is a specialist at getting three goals in the same game. Like Forlán, the Colombian striker has scored two hat-tricks for the Yellows. The first of them came in the goalfest against RC Celta (4-1) at home in the 2017/18 season, while the second came against Comillas CF (5-0) in the first round of this season’s Copa del Rey.

Toko Ekambi, the scorer of four goals against Almería (8-0)

Despite not having scored a hat-trick, Karl Toko Ekambi is the only player to have scored four goals in the same tie for Villarreal in the elite of Spanish football. The striker scored half of the goals in a historic win over UD Almería (8-0), in the last 32 of the 2018/19 Copa del Rey.
