The event, organised by Villarreal CF, will take place from 6th to 9th April
The Yellow Cup Easter is back this Easter! The tournament organised by Villarreal CF, in collaboration with Endeka, will once again bring together more than 15,000 people, including players, coaches, family members and staff, from 6th to 9th April. In recent times, the competition has become one of the most popular events in the province of Castellón
The cities of Castellón de la Plana, Oropesa del Mar (Marina d’Or) and Benicàssim will host young footballers from teams from all over the world. The three towns will welcome teams from countries such as the United States, Japan and Israel, among others. The coastal areas are one more attraction to make this prestigious international tournament attractive, as well as the Villarreal CF brand. Most teams will spend three nights in the province, but some of those who have travelled many kilometres to reach the Costa Azahar will stay for up to a week to continue enjoying themselves after the tournament.
The competition will bring together 3,500 participants and coaching staff. A total of 224 teams in ten age groups: six in 7-a-side football and four in 11-a-side football.
From abroad, top-level clubs such as Liverpool FC and Borussia Dortmund are coming to Vila-real, but also some of the most important youth teams in LaLiga, such as Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Sevilla FC, Real Sociedad, CA Osasuna and Levante UD, who, in addition to Villarreal CF, will display all their football and try to win the tournament.
The tournament will be played in different venues: the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground, the Pamesa Cerámica Training Ground, the CEM Pau Francisco Torres and the Flors Foundation football pitch, in Vila-real; the Intursport football pitch, the Torre San Vicente football pitch and the Carrerasa football pitch, in Benicàssim; and the municipal football pitch in Orpesa del Mar.
Visit to the Estadio de la Cerámica
If playing their matches at the Submarine’s facilities is already a prize for the youngsters who come to Vila-real to compete in this tournament, even more so is the visit to the remodelled Estadio de la Cerámica.
The participants will have the opportunity to complete a tour of the most exclusive areas of the Villarreal stadium: the press room, the dugouts, the changing rooms where the players change before each match and, most exciting of all, the pitch of one of the fields where LaLiga Santander matches and the most prestigious European competitions are played.
As if that wasn’t enough, the participating teams will have the opportunity to enjoy Villarreal B vs Málaga, corresponding to the Gameweek 35 of the LaLiga SmartBank season, which will be played this Friday at 9pm CEST at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
In addition, the Yellows have organised other activities outside of the competition itself, such as the opening party, the welcome party, the fanzone, attractions at the different campuses and the closing ceremony.
Follow the tournament online!
Fans will be able to follow the Yellow Cup Easter live. A streaming set will be set up at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to broadcast all the highlights and interviews during the three days of the competition. Participants, coaches, family members, Villarreal Club de Fútbol sporting institutions, professional players and anyone else who joins the Yellow Cup party will pass through the set.
As in other editions, many of the matches of the competition will be broadcast live. The matches that will be broadcast live correspond to the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground: two 7-a-side football pitches and one 11-a-side football pitch.
