Pere Martí’s side start the season this Saturday, with their first league tie against CD Roda (5pm CET).

Motivated to return to the pitch. The U19s (Juvenil A) will return to action this Saturday after eight months without playing due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic. The U19s (Juvenil A), in group 7B of the División de Honor, will face CD Roda in the Mini Estadi (5pm CET, live on Villarreal CF Live).

In the 2020/21 season, the team will be managed by Pere Martí, who knows the club well after having trained Villarreal C for three seasons in a row. The Yellows head coach has previous experience in the División de Honor, having taken charge of CD Roda’s side for various seasons.

He has a young group, full of talent, ready for a new challenge. In terms of signings, the U19s have brought in three new signings: Jacobo Martínez (goalkeeper), Marlon Foubert (centre-back) and Andrés Rodríguez (right-back).

The incorporations have joined a committed and talented squad, of which the majority have come from other Yellows Academy sides: Rubén Gómez (goalkeeper), David Guerrero (defender), Dani Tena (defender), Marc Faja (defender), Sergio Camacho (defender), Toni Gabarri (midfielder), Diego Real (midfielder), Jack Imperato (midfielder), Miguel Ángel Ruiz (midfielder), Juan Antonio Pérez (midfielder), Álvaro Cruz (forward), Pau Vidal (forward), Marcos Sánchez (defender), Rodri Alonso (midfielder), Jordi Ortega (midfielder), Rubén Bonachera (defender) and Álex Jiménez (forward).

All of them have joined the U19s this season, and there are two players from last year: the Argentines Francisco Bonfiglio (forward) and Tiago Jose Geralnik (midfielder).

Excitement and hard work

The U19s will be in Group 7B of the División de Honor with nine other teams. The competition will take part in two phases, the first a regular league – split into two groups – and a second stage with two specific phases (Qualifiying for the Copa de Campeones and the Stage to avoid relegation).

The clubs that finish in the top five places in each group will go to the second stage for the Copa de Campeones, while the others will go into the relegation battle.
