Fran Escribá highlighted his team’s great work to get another victory
Villarreal Manager, Fran Escribá, talked about how difficult it is to get three points in LaLiga Santander in tonight’s press conference. “It’s cliché, but it’s really hard to win matches in the First Division, we see other teams winning easily and we think it’s easy. Real played very well and they made it really tough for us”.
The Yellows Manager also wanted to sum up this season’s first few league matches, in which the Yellows have picked up eight from a possible twelve points. “Yes, we had to come back from defeat in the Champions League Playoffs which was disappointing for everyone, but we reacted well. We’re a team that always competes well and today we found our form. If our opponents hadn’t played so well it would have been an outright win, but they made us work very hard as Real have great quality players”.
Fran Escribá talked about Nicola Sansone’s recent performance, the striker being the Yellows top goalscorer in LaLiga with three goals. “Nico gives us the option to use him as a wide player or up front, he loses his marker well, he’s very quick and having great passers of the ball behind him he can be a versatile attacker for us. He gives us so much, because he has many strengths. Both his goals were extraordinary, the second will no doubt be one of the best goals of the weekend’s matches and we’ll be watching it all week”.
Lastly, the Manager thanked the fans for what was a magnificent turnout: “The stadium was full of people. The fans supported us and in the last few minutes that was key. The fans add pressure, give you that boost and you notice that. The players are really happy with the fans”.
