We look over the stats from both sides ahead of the game on Matchday 29
Villarreal and Mallorca face each other at the Estadio de la Cerámica this evening (7:30pm CEST, live on LaLigaTV in the UK), on Matchday 29 of LaLiga Santander. Ahead of the tie, we look at some of the standout statistics.
- Villarreal have not lost in their last eight games at home to Mallorca in LaLiga (six wins and two draws), a run that stretches back to a 0-2 defeat in December 2003, when Luis Aragónes was manager of the Balearic side.
- After 17 games without a win away from home in LaLiga (three draws and 14 defeats), Mallorca won their last away match in the top flight, 1-2 against Eibar, back in March.
- Mallorca go into the match on the back of their worst result of the season, a 0-4 loss at home to Barcelona, the biggest defeat suffered by the Balearic side in LaLiga since April 2013 (5-0, also against FC Barcelona).
- RCD Mallorca are the side who have conceded most LaLiga goals since the start of 2020 (16, the same as Eibar).
- Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla has scored three LaLiga goals against Mallorca (in 15 games), including his gol in the match between the two sides this season. However, that game saw Mallorca win 3-1.
- Manu Trigueros has been directly involved in six goals so far this LaLiga season (two goals and four assists), just one away from his best ever season (seven goals in 2017/18).
- This match sees the team who has scored the most from the penalty spot this season in LaLiga (Villarreal with seven, which is the same as Osasuna), face the team for whom penalties make up the highest percentage of goals they have scored this season (Mallorca, 21%, the same as Athletic Club and Osasuna).
