

The decision affects Villarreal CF’s games against RC Celta and RCD Mallorca
LaLiga has this Thursday announced that matches will be suspended, for at least the next two matchdays in LaLiga Santander and LaLiga Smartbank, due to COVID-19.
After announcing last Tuesday that the games in the national championship would be played behind closed doors for two weeks, LaLiga has now decided that it is appropriate to adopt the second phase of protocol action, in agreement with the established measures of the Royal Decree 668/1997 of 12th May.
The league has communicated the decision to the Spanish Football Federation, the Supreme Council for Sports and LaLiga clubs.
The first team will continue training at the club behind closed doors
As well as the postponement of, at least Matchdays 28 and 29 of LaLiga Santander, the men’s first team will continue training as normal at the Villarreal CF Training Ground behind closed doors. After this morning’s training session, the squad will have three rest days and and will return to work on Monday, with morning training sessions planned until the following Friday.
The club has banned its players and coaching staff from travelling, asking them to, as well as exercising individual responsibility, to stay at home as much as possible to avoid possible contagion.
