Fernando Roig and Javier Tebas foresee a great future for Spanish football after the LaLiga Assembly
At midday today, right after the LaLiga General Assembly had taken place at the PAMESA Cerámica Training Ground, Villarreal CF President, Fernando Roig, and LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, both spoke at a press conference to assess the state of Spanish football.
The Yellows highest representative predicts a great future for the LaLiga clubs. “The last three years have been good for Spanish football. We are doing well and we have to keep improving. I’m sure that the next five years will be extraordinary for Spanish football”, Fernando Roig affirmed.
The Yellows President also assured that it is “a pleasure for Villarreal to host the LaLiga Assembly and the LaLiga Promises tournament”, at a time when financial order has helped the clubs to grow: “We have put things in order, with financial control. We have sold the common rights so we can all be satisfied. From now on, with this financial control we must grow”.
Roig also spoke in detail about the renovations being done at El Madrigal to make the home of the Yellows even more spectacular: “We are improving the stadium to give it more scope to televise matches. The journalists zone will also be expanded. Then there’s the outside area (behind the South stand), where the pavilion will be taken down and reconstructed in another location. We’re going to give the stadium a makeover. You’ve got to put on a good show when you’ve got good players, a big stadium and a great atmosphere”.
Javier Tebas: “Villarreal has a great audiovisual perception”
For his part, LaLiga President, Javier Tebas, explained the topics covered in the LaLiga General Assembly: “We presented a strategic plan for the next few years. In the last three years the club’s have really cleaned themselves up and in two seasons’ time the situation will be excellent. From now on there will be new challenges. We want to grow so that we can compete economically with the Premier League”.
For Javier Tebas, the appearance and condition of the stadiums must be excellent to keep growing: “We have to give value to LaLiga. We need our clubs to have the financial capacity to renovate their stadiums. We have also continued to insist on audiovisual value, the image given on television. Our matches are very competitive, but sometimes it is the stages they are played on that lets us down. Clubs must comply with this audiovisual regulation”.
According to Tebas, Villarreal CF is an example to follow in this apsect and he highlighted that next season El Madrigal will be one of the seven Spanish stadiums to have an aerial camera during matches: “Next year seven stadiums are going to improve, among those El Madrigal, as they are going to have an aerial camera. Villarreal has a great audiovisual perception, in line with the best in LaLiga”.
