Villarreal boss, Fran Escribá, commended his team’s perseverance against a “good” Leganés side

The Villarreal CF Manager, Fran Escribá, highlighted the importance of the three points won by his side against Leganés, in a match that ended in quite a dramatic fashion. For this reason, the Yellows boss praised his players’ effort, as they did not give up until the final whistle and came away with the win thanks to two goals by Cédric Bakambu. “Leganés always compete well and never give up. Today we saw that. We didn’t play our best game and we struggled to finish our plays. We expected a match like that. We played well at times and at others we weren’t so good. We fought until the end though and got the win”, he stated.

The two goals by the French-Congolese striker sent the stands of the Estadio de la Cerámica wild. “Bakambu always gives you solutions on the pitch. He creates chances out of nothing and in this match he proved to be decisive once again. It was a good decision to leave him on until the end of the game”, Escribá analyzed.

To finish, the Manager predicts an exciting finish to the league: “There are five games to go and the team is capable of winning them. We’ll get some players back for the Atlético game to manage the team effort. All teams are playing for our lives in these five matches”.
