The Andalusian defender highlighted the growth of the team and the step forward that the Yellows want to take after the draw with Granada
Alberto Moreno appeared in front of the press after the men’s first team’s training session at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). The Andalusian defender emphasised the growth of the team and the step forward the Yelows want to take after last Monday’s draw with Granada CF: “The idea of this year is to improve on the last. The team has the ability to be in Europe. The coach wants us to be an ambitious side, one that doesn’t drop points against teams from mid-table and below. If we lose, we need to only think about returning to winning ways.”
The left-sided player also spoke about what could be key as the Yellows travel to RCD Espanyol on Saturday: “They’re a newly-promoted side, all of the matches will be like a final for them. We’ve started to study them and we will continue working to be ready to play in a very tough stadium against a team that will be ready to fight for everything. We are going to all try and be at 100% to help in whatever what is necessary for the team and to be towards the top of the table.” He also underlined the importance of his team-mate Juan Foyth being available, after his first yellow card against Granada CF was overturned: “It’s great that he can be with us, as he is an important part of our system.”
Furthermore, Moreno underlined his personal satisfaction: “I’m very happy, it had been a long time since I’d gone into a pre-season without physical problems. I am really happy that I’ve been able to complete it in full. I’m very happy in my new position and I’m happy to help the team and the coach however I can.”
